description
In this course, learn the fundamentals of drawing. Students will be taught how to train their eye to understand three dimensions and transfer this to 2-dimensional form using gesture drawing, perspective, and value studies. Discover how to draw with proper techniques using a variety of materials including pen and ink, charcoal and more. 2D Studio classroom is located on second floor of the Montgomery Building of the Chapman Cultural Center. Beginning Drawing Supply List • Art tape • Ruler • Spare computer paper (used to keep clean borders) • Black ink (Higgins Black Magic works well) • White charcoal pencil • Charcoal pencils (4B 6B 2B) (Comes in packs with all 3) • Compressed charcoal (4B 6B 2B) (Comes in packs with all 3) • Conte Crayons (sometimes labeled as pastels) (Sepia, Brown, White and Black) (Comes in packs with all 4) White eraser, kneaded eraser, pencil eraser Micron Pens, Black, .05, .03, .005 • Fine sand paper • Chamois cloth or soft cloth • Regular #2 pencil or mechanical pencil • 1 Pad of Bristol board or Illustration board 14“x 17” or larger Stumps or Tortillons (available in a pack of various sizes)

cancellation policy
If we do not meet minimum registration, class will be cancelled and students will be given a full refund. If registration occurred through our website, refunds will be issued through PayPal/Square minus a small PayPal/Square administration fee. Otherwise, a check will be mailed to you in approximately two weeks. If a student has to withdraw from a class five or more working days before the class is scheduled to begin, a refund will be issued minus a SAM $20 administrative fee. If a student withdraws from a class five working days or less before a class is scheduled to begin, the class fee will not be refunded.
