THOMAS PARHAM was an award winning artist who committed himself to the creation of works which advanced the common good. He strove to have a positive impact on society and was led by this passion to paint a variety of subjects. Parham exhibited artistic talent at an early age and later received a degree in art from Allen University in Columbia, South Carolina. Although Thomas primarily worked in acrylics, oils and watercolor, he also sculpted.

At age forty, this former Dean of Students of the South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind made the decision to dedicate his life to a career in art. His commitments to both education and society, and his great artistic ability enabled led him to become the Director of SAM’s COLORS Program, a position he held until his death.
